The Spider's Thread (蜘蛛の糸, , Kumo no Ito^?) is the 11th chapter of the Kemono Jihen manga series.

Summary

Shiki, Akira, Kabane, and Inugami arrive at Gunma prefecture.

Inugami decides to take the three to a trip to which Kusaka asks if it is a mission. Inugami replies that it is half work and half private matters and at first decides for him and Shiki to go only. Suddenly, Shiki appears and says everyone can come since they will be looking for his parents.

At the trip, Shiki reveals that the place they will be going is where he lived with his mother before his uncle took care of him and moved to Inugami's place. The four then arrives at the location. After Shiki sees the place, a flashback is seen wherein he talks to Inugami about changing his plan on looking for his parents.

A young girl appears at the souvenir shop.

While Shiki, Akira, and Kabane are looking arround at a souvenir shop, Shiki notices a young girl at the door to which she also leaves. Inugami then arrives after checking-in and tells him that he found Tademaru sensei. The man then introduces himself as Akio Tademaru, the younger brother of Shiki's father. Shiki then tells them that his uncle is human but knows about kemono. Akio then points out that Shiki's has gotten calmer to which Shiki makes a fuss about it. Akio then informs them about Shiki's mother and tells them the first time he saw a kemono was when he and his brother were investigating somehting about the Kinshi-go folklore and there they met Shiki's mother. He tells then that that much is told to Shiki and the rest has been purposefully kept from him. Inugami suddenly suggests for them to head out.

Back at their inn, while Akira, Kabane, and Inugami are together, they wonder if Shiki is alright. Suddenly, Shiki arrives and Akira asks him how did it go. Shiki tells them that his parents were dead and tells the Kabane and Akira not to be suprised since he got a feeling they were. It was then revealed to Shiki by Akio that his father died when Shiki is still on his mother's womb and his mother died of an illness when he was five. Shiki then tells them that he is relieved and gives thanks to Inugami. Kabane then approaches him and tells Shiki that somehow he is not himself and describes him as extremely cheerful. Shiki then begins to start mad when Inugami asks him where Akio go. Shiki tells him that he is heading into the middle of the forest.

Nobimaru reveals his kitsune form.

Later, Kabane, Akira, and Shiki is seen bathing. Suddenly, Nobimaru appears and since he saw that there are only three of them in the bath house, he reveals himself as a kitsune. Noticing that the three seems down, he suggests for them to go explore the forest since there are fireflies.

The four then arrives at the forest and sees a bunch of fireflies. Kabane gives his thanks to Nobimaru and Nobimaru says he is happy for him. While wandering, Shiki finds a familiar tree and says that he used it as a landmark. Suddenly, he remembers that he used to go right from the tree and sees his mom working. Shiki then starts to run and founds a cabin. He remembers that time that at the other side of the door, is something that is way more disgusting. As Shiki opens the door, he recalls what he saw when he was young, it was her mom being impregnated by something.

As they follow Shiki at the cabin, Nobimaru finds a artificial insemination catheter and wonders why is it there. He also finds blood and scratch marks. Nobimaru then suddenly remembers a certain kemono incident, in which a certain item called "healing silk appeared in the human market and Inari killed it before it became public however a certain human was blacklisted.

Back at the inn, the young girl Shiki met is seen reading a book. Meanwhile, Inugami goes to Akio's room and tells him he wants to have an adult conversation with him
