Madness (狂気,, Kyōki^?) is the 12th chapter of the Kemono Jihen manga series.

Summary

Nobimaru reveals the blacklisted man to Kabane and Shiki.

Nobimaru reveals to Kabane and Shiki that the name of human Yoko Inari blacklisted is Akio Tademaru. Nobimaru further tells them that if the case is humans and kemono join hands to earn money, it may be overlooked. However, his comrades won't can't overlook it as it would cause the existence of kemonos to be revealed and that Akio wanted fame and fortune to the point that he artificially distorted a kemono's power to get it.Nobimaru further tells that the place and the kemono incident is related and the place is used as a test site to create the Golden Thread.

Shiki recalls his memories when he was young, when he tried to save his mother from the monster but suddenly felt a flow on his head and lost consciousness. Upon waking up, he sees his uncle that his mother is safe however her injuries are severe and will take long time to recover. Shiki then asks fo his uncle's help and tells him to save his mother. Over time, Shiki constantly asks his uncle if his mother is already okay to which Akio responds the same - that she's still not better. At some point, Shiki felt like his uncle was lying and he ran from the truth. He realized that he should have questioned his uncle that time since he believes his mother won't throw him away.

Inugami confronts Akio.

Shiki then leaves and tells the two that he will just cool his head. Nobimaru thinks that Inugami might be anticipating this. Later, they heard a loud noise outside which is Shiki punching the wall. Shiki then tells Nobimaru that they want each other to share information. Shiki then tells them that he don't wanna go by hus gut by if all are connected, he won't forgive his uncle and kill him. Shiki asks Kabane if he is gonna stop him to which Kabane responds that he won't be stopping him since he chose it and offers if he there is anything he can help. Shiki gives his thanks to Kabane.

Meanwhile, at the cabin, Inugami wants to have a conversation with Akio. They then go outside. While Akio is telling him that when go to Kinshi-go, he remembers things. Inugami mentioned the Golden Thread. Akio becomes frozen and tells Inugami that he keeps getting on his way and what did he do wrong. Inugami then asks Akio how the golden thread was born. Akio confessed his doings to whichi it was revealed that all this time, Shiki is listening to their conversation through call.

Shiki meets his siblings.

. Just then, Akira in a complete mess state finally finds them. Suddenly, forest dwelling kemono began to appear and attack them. Akio then reveals that all of the kemonos in the forest are Shiki's siblings, although failed to become the golden thread, they guard the forest and recognize Akio as their father. Akio is released by some of the kemonos. Akio tells Shiki that they have intelligence and can speak despite not understanding the meaning of it. Shiki's kemono siblings then start to speak different phrases and words, which Kumi always used. Shiki breaks down and cries. Kabane shows a face of being upset and once again ask Shiki if there is something he can do. Shiki tells Kabane to help to which Kabane accepts.
