Foxes (狐, Kitsune?) is the third episode of Kemono Jihen anime series.

Synopsis[]

Superintendent Inari of the Shinjuku Police Station, a kitsune Kemono herself, asks Kabane to come to her station to introduce himself. But when Inari asks to see his lifestone, it becomes evident that she has an ulterior motive for the visit.

Kabane, Shiki, and Akira visit the police station to meet Inari, a kitsune kemono who holds a lot of power over the police. A girl named Kon appears in front of them. On the other hand, Inari is showing an unusual interest in Kabane's "lifestone".

Shiki, Akira, and Kabane arrive at the Shinjuku Police Station.

Inugami orders Shiki to bring Kabane to Yoko Inari. Inugami then calls Kabane and gives him a good luck charm. Meanwhile, Inari arrives at the Shinjuku Police Station and is greeted by the police.

Shiki, Akira, and Kabane arrive at the Shinjuku Station and directly goes to the Shinjuku Police Station. Upon arriving, they ask to see Inari however is declined by the officer at the reception desk. A young girl appears them whose name is Kon and asks who of the three is Kabane. Kabane reveals himself. Kon then tells him that Inari is asking for him and orders Kabane to follow her. Before Shiki is able to follow along, Kon stops him saying that Inari only wants Kabane. Kabane proceeds to follow Kon and leaves.

Being pushed inside by Kon, Kabane enters the room and sees Inari. Inari tells Kabane to show the lifestone which Kabane, with no hesitation, hands it over. She proceeds to tell Kabane all about his lifestone. Suddenly, Kabane's head is decapitated by Kon. Inari orders the police which is under her spell to collect his head and dispose his body and Kon to deal with Kabane's friends.

A Kabane look-alike appears before Shiki and Akira, holding a briefcase. Curious at to what's inside the case, Akira asks him. Kabane responds that it is given to him and needs to deliver it to the room later. Akira notices something different with Kabane. Upon hearing Shiki mock Inari, Kabane transforms himself which reveals to be Kon in disguise.

Kon proceeds to attack the two using her flames. During the battle, Shiki manages to steal the briefcase from Kon. Upon opening, they see Kabane's head which made Akira unconcsciousness. Afraid of the thought of not being a good girl to Inari, Kon proceeds to look for them at the building. Kabane tells Shiki to throw him at her and he will take her down. Remembering how Kabane dealt with the bugs, Shiki executes Kabane's plan by throwing him. Kabane manages land a deep bite on Kon's shoulders which made her unconscious. Upon taking down Kon, the illusion is gone at the police station. Kabane grows back his body. The three leaves and sees Inugami waiting for them outside.

Inari is seen riding a taxi and sees the lifestone change its appearance into a tanuki doll. She then receives a call from Inugami. Inugami tells Inari that the lifestone belongs to Kabane and next time, she will be dealing with him. It turns out, Kabane is hiding the lifestone inside his mouth.

Kon is seen struggling to walk after being attacked by Kabane. After Inugami and others went to dinner and goes back to the office, they seen Kon at a distance which eventually falls down. She is given pizza and tells Inugami that she needs to retrieve Kabane's head. After a while, a client appears at their doorstep.

Manga and Anime Differences[]

  • In the manga, Kabane is served some water from France before Inari talks to him. [1] However, Inari proceeds to talk to him in the anime.
  • In the manga, Inugami did not fetch them at the police station but is waiting for them at the office. Hence, the four of them not having dinner outside.[1]
  • In the manga, Shiki and Kabane is the one who come across Kon after getting some drinks. [2] In the anime, Inugami, Shiki, Kabane, and Akira come across Kon after getting dinner the same day they went to the Shinjuku Police Station.
  • In the manga, Kabane is the one teaching Kon where to put the recyclables and the combustible garbage. [2] However, it is Akira in the anime.
