Kemono Jihen Wiki
Introduction

Katanashi (形無 (カタナシ) ?) is a formless kemono from the Spirit Clan, known for ripping off body parts from women on Takeshita Street, Harajuku.

Appearance[]

In its original form, Katanashi is formless, existing only as a dark mist. To take on a human appearance, she stole facial features from women passing through Takeshita Street, attaching them to her shadowy form.

After receiving a body made by Aya, Katanashi gained a human-like appearance. However, almost her entire body is pink since it was formed from Aya's silk. The only part that has a natural skin tone is her head, where she has long gray hair.

Personality[]

Katanashi is childish, impulsive, and emotionally fragile. She acts based on her desires, not fully understanding the harm she causes. She complains when things don’t go her way, portraying herself as a victim.

She envies humans and longs for love, believing that stealing parts of others will make her "the number one girl." She relates to Kon’s jealousy, feeling unworthy and lonely. Despite her actions, she isn’t truly malicious—just misguided. Once given a physical body, she agrees to stop, showing that all she really wanted was to belong.

Plot[]

Intermission Arc[]

After a series of incidents on Takeshita Street, Harajuku, where reports surfaced of women's facial features being torn off, the Inugami Detective Agency was called to investigate. Kabane was assigned to the case, accompanied by Aya and Kon.

Upon arriving at the location, they smelled Kemono, but couldn't see anything. While investigating, tensions arose when Kon, feeling jealous of Aya and Kabane’s closeness, became frustrated. Kon snapped at Kabane in irritation, and Aya, noticing this, told Kabane to just leave Kon alone so they could continue the mission. It was at that moment that Katanashi, watching the situation unfold, decided to intervene.

She suddenly grabbed Aya by the hair and lifted her into the air, but Kabane reacted immediately, striking her and forcing her to let go.

After being hit, Katanashi whined, complaining that Kabane was mean and that the attack had hurt her. She then revealed that she was a formless kemono. When Kabane asked why she was attacking women in the area, Katanashi explained that she wanted to be like humans—to talk to the boy who worked in the store across the street. She admired him, but since he was always surrounded by girls, she believed that by taking parts of their faces, she could make them her own and become his number one girl.

Kabane disagreed, telling her that her idea of love was wrong. In response, Katanashi scoffed, saying, "You lovebirds wouldn’t understand how we feel!"—referring to both herself and Kon, who was jealous of Aya and Kabane. Her words escalated tensions between Aya and Kon, leading to an argument in which Kon, in a fit of rage, even attempted to bite Aya. Kabane stopped her, but Kon fled, crying.

Katanashi then turned to Kabane, calling him mean for making Kon cry.

In the end, Aya used her powers to create a physical body for Katanashi, giving her a human-like appearance. With this, Katanashi finally agreed to stop stealing parts of women’s faces.[1]
